Why Choose an Insanely Satisfied Life?
An insanely satisfied life is for those who are continually seeking more – not because we are necessarily unsatisfied with what we have, but because we feel the drive to share more, contribute more, express more, explore more – examine, investigate, learn, produce, achieve MORE. The more we seek is not driven by suffering and an inability to be satisfied, but something real and true that lives inside and tells us we’re here for a purpose, and fulfilling that purpose will bring joy to us and to others. Seeking to be insanely satisfied means seeking continual growth and deepening of the joy we feel when expressing our talents and gifts.
The goals do not have to be lofty – we’re not all here to save the world (although some of us are, and we thank goodness for them). They can be focused on improved family relationships to bring more harmony to interactions and dynamics. Or on developing hobbies and interests beyond work. Or exploring that creative part of ourselves we left behind. The goals might be lying dormant – an old career path abandoned, a skill set put aside for other pursuits, a dream from childhood. Or we might be really clear on what we want to develop, create, achieve, and share.
The seeker is as varied as the goal. We are men and women, older and younger, from across the globe, who feel we’re here for a purpose. We have something inside we want to share with our families and communities, because when we do that, we feel good. We feel fulfilled.
Maybe we just have an interest in something we want to learn more about. Maybe we’re at a crossroads and are re-examining our life and its direction – considering a graduate degree, about to experience empty-nest syndrome, preparing for retirement, shifting careers, ending a relationship, beginning a relationship. It could be a crisis or just a natural transition. It could be a quiet voice inside that we are finally deciding to listen to.
Whatever the drive, however loudly or softly it speaks to us, it’s pushing us toward a goal, the ultimate outcome of which will bring us more joy and to those around us.
The Oxford Dictionary defines fulfillment as:
“satisfaction or happiness as a result of fully developing one’s abilities or character”
This is the core of seeking and living an insanely satisfied life – embracing our abilities and character, developing our best selves and talents, and creating the outcomes that stem from that process. Whether we’re entrepreneurs or parents, artists or animal handlers, mathematicians or mechanics, we each have something to offer our families, communities, and the world.
What’s the more at your core? Are you willing to seek it with commitment and perseverance? Let’s work together to support each other in fully developing those skills and abilities, traits and talents that bring more joy and fulfillment to the world.
